Child and Adolescent Counseling

For parents

As a parent, I understand that parenting can be difficult and exhausting. We do the best we can with the knowledge and resources we have available; but parenting does not come with a handbook that tells us exactly how to navigate the steps... and if there was, who would have time to read it anyway?!

The vast majority of my career has been spent working with children and adolescents.  I am highly skilled and experienced in treating many child and adolescent diagnoses and disorders.  I am able to support your child in addressing a wide range of issues, including, but not limited to:

  • anxiety, fears, and worry

  • depression and sadness

  • non-suicidal self injury (commonly called cutting)

  • foster care/adoption transition

  • self-esteem and self-worth

  • bullying/cyberbullying

  • school issues

  • family issues

  • divorce

  • trauma recovery

  • ADHD

  • behavioral issues

for children and teens

Sometimes, parents just don't seem to understand.  It's almost like you are each speaking a different language!  From my work with children and teenagers, I understand that you are often under a lot of pressure; you're expected to make good grades, follow the rules, make and be a good friend.... all of this while you're trying to figure out who you really are.

As a child or teenager, you may feel that you just cannot talk to your parents or caregivers and you feel lost, confused, and misunderstood.  Counseling is a safe space for you to be heard, to be respected, and to be YOU.  Together we will identify goals that you want to achieve and we will create a plan to achieve these goals; helping you to feel confident and valued.  I can help you overcome current challenges and prepare you to handle the ones that may arise in the future.

A person’s a person, no matter how small.”
